The development of Link 16 is constantly of interest, as this technology provides real-time, jam-resistant transfer of combat information between widely dispersed operational and battle elements. This advancement helps its users to improve situational awareness by gaining access to digital data over a common communication link that is automatically updated in real time.
Despite the benefits of Link16 technology, users are always faced with interoperability issues between different data link platforms. If this problem persists, users cannot communicate effectively and accurately, particularly in joint military operations.
The 3-day Link 16 course aims to deliver essential information (both theoretical and practical based training) in the planning, operation, network design and network management areas of the Link 16 specialisation. Topics include technical concepts of Link16, comparison of Link16 versus other links, operation and network management applications, effective operational procedures, data links documentation, effective interoperability within national or multi-national operations and future challenges of Link16.
